Why local SEO is its own thing
Generic SEO advice doesn't move local rankings.
When someone searches "plumber near me" or "best dentist in Sarasota," Google's ranking algorithm pulls from a different set of signals than for general organic search. Your Google Business Profile, citation consistency across the web, review velocity and recency, neighborhood-specific content, and proximity to the searcher all matter — none of which a generic SEO playbook touches.
Most businesses we audit have a Google Business Profile that's 60% complete and hasn't been touched in a year. That's the single biggest unforced error in Suncoast small business SEO.
Stale Google Business Profile
No posts in 6 months. Photos from 2019. Hours wrong on holidays. No products or services listed. No Q&A activity. Google reads "this business may not be operating" and ranks competitors above you.
Citation chaos
Your business is listed on 30+ directories (Yelp, BBB, Yellow Pages, niche sites) — and half of them have outdated phone numbers, wrong addresses, or your old business name from before the rebrand. Inconsistency is a major local-SEO penalty.
Review silence
You have 12 reviews from 2021. Competitors have 47 from this year. Google reads review velocity as a signal of business activity. Old reviews, however good, don't carry the same weight as fresh ones.
How we do it
Active management — not "set up and forget."
Local SEO is a series of small actions, taken consistently. We do them.
Google Business Profile posts go up weekly — fresh content keyed to seasonal local intent (hurricane prep in summer, snowbird-targeted offers in winter, hyperlocal events year-round). Photos are added on a regular schedule. Q&A is monitored and seeded.
Reviews are watched daily. New reviews get responded to within 24 hours, in your brand voice — auto-publish if you opt in, or routed through an approval workflow if you'd rather review first. Negative reviews are flagged for human review and de-escalation.
Citations are built and cleaned across 50+ directories — we use a paid aggregator service so updates propagate cleanly to the long-tail of smaller listings. NAP (name, address, phone) consistency gets audited quarterly.
Location pages on your site (one per neighborhood you serve) get content refreshed quarterly. Local-keyword rank tracking runs monthly across the Suncoast region — Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, Lakewood Ranch, Englewood, Nokomis, Osprey, Port Charlotte — and the report goes to you with what changed and why.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How long until I see results?
Local SEO is faster-moving than traditional organic SEO because Google updates the local pack more frequently. Most clients see meaningful ranking improvements within 60–90 days, with the biggest gains in months 4–6 as citations propagate and review velocity builds. We track everything and the monthly report shows you exactly what moved.
Do you guarantee #1 rankings?
No — and any agency that does is lying. Google's local algorithm factors in dozens of signals including the searcher's actual physical location, which means there's no single "#1 rank." We measure visibility (how often you show up in the local pack across the keywords and neighborhoods you care about) and that's what the monthly report tracks.
Will you ask for fake reviews or do anything against Google's rules?
No. Fake reviews get businesses suspended and penalized; we won't do anything that puts your account at risk. We help you set up a clean process for asking real customers for reviews (post-job text, follow-up email, NFC tap-card for in-person) — but every review must come from a real customer and a real interaction.
What if I have multiple locations?
Each location needs its own GBP, its own citations, and its own location landing page. Pricing scales accordingly — typically $250/mo for additional locations beyond the first. Multi-location chains (5+) get a custom quote because management overhead grows non-linearly.
What about negative reviews?
Negative reviews are flagged immediately for human review (not auto-replied). We draft a response that acknowledges the customer's experience without admitting fault, invites them to take the conversation private, and leaves the public-facing reply professional. You always get to approve negative-review responses before they go out. For reviews that violate Google's policy (spam, conflicts of interest, hate speech) we'll file a removal request.
Do you also do non-local (national / e-commerce) SEO?
Our specialty is local SEO for service-area and brick-and-mortar Suncoast businesses. For national SEO or e-commerce SEO we'd be honest with you — that's a different discipline with different tooling and we're not the right fit for it. We'll happily refer you to an agency that specializes there.
What's the difference between this and "GBP Setup"?
GBP Setup is a one-time project ($300–$500) — we get your Google Business Profile created, verified, optimized to 100%, and hand it back to you to manage. Local SEO Management is the ongoing recurring service that keeps the profile (and dozens of other signals) actively maintained month after month. Many clients do GBP Setup first and then upgrade to ongoing management once they see the work involved.
How do you track keyword rankings across the Suncoast?
We use a local-pack rank tracking tool that simulates searches from specific geographic coordinates — so we can see your ranking for "plumber" not just "in Sarasota" but at specific street-level locations across Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, Lakewood Ranch, and the smaller towns. The monthly report shows your ranking heat-map across your service area — much more useful than a single national rank.
Do I need to keep paying forever, or is this a one-time push?
Local SEO is more like landscaping than construction — it requires ongoing maintenance because the inputs (reviews, citations, content freshness) decay over time. If you stop, your rankings decay too. Most clients keep monthly service indefinitely; some scale down to a quarterly maintenance plan once they're established and dominant in their market.
Can I just do this myself?
Yes — none of this is secret. The work is straightforward, but it's constant: weekly posts, daily review monitoring, quarterly citation audits, monthly competitor checks. Most small business owners we work with tried it themselves first and found that it kept slipping during busy weeks. The value here is consistency, not magic.
